Russia should stop disinformation; the MFA denies accusations of Moldova's 'militarization' by Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) rejects the accusations made by the Russian Federation's representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) regarding the alleged "militarization" of the Republic of Moldova and the country's transformation into a "logistics hub" for Ukraine. Chisinau's diplomatic service describes the claims as false and unfounded, noting that they are unsupported by evidence.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), reports regarding alleged drone transport routes, drone assembly capabilities in the Republic of Moldova, or the existence of medical centers for the Ukrainian army are false.

"Claims regarding alleged drone transport routes, drone assembly capabilities, or medical centers for the Ukrainian army do not reflect reality and are unsupported by evidence. Moreover, a similar false report—concerning the alleged landing in Chișinău of a plane carrying military drones destined for Ukraine—was recently debunked by the fact-checking portal 'stopfals.md'," the MFA statement reads.

"The real risks stem from the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, while the Russian Federation accuses Chișinău of alleged military activities, the Republic of Moldova is facing security risks generated by Russia's war against Ukraine.

The Ministry points to the most recent incident, which occurred on October 5 near the Palanca border crossing point.

A drone explosion injured a border police officer and caused material damage.

"We regret the use of the OSCE platform to promote such falsehoods regarding the Republic of Moldova," stated the Chișinău foreign ministry.

The Ministry reaffirmed that the Republic of Moldova is a peaceful, neutral state and that the authorities will continue to protect its citizens, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

"We urge the Russian Federation to cease disinformation and intimidation rhetoric directed at the Republic of Moldova and to respect international law and the commitments undertaken within the OSCE," the Ministry added.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, 95 Russian drones and missiles have illegally entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. Recently, the Russian Federation's designated ambassador to Chișinău, Oleg Ozerov, admitted for the first time that the drones illegally entering Moldovan airspace and exploding on the country's territory are of Russian manufacture.

On October 3, Ozerov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was handed another note of protest after three Russian drones and three missiles flew through Moldovan airspace, and five exploded across four districts.

Recently, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu did not rule out adopting additional measures against the Russian diplomat. When asked whether this could include Ozerov's expulsion, Grosu replied, "anything is possible."
