A 44-year-old Moldovan wanted for fraud was returned from the US

A 44-year-old Moldovan national, wanted internationally for committing fraud on an exceptionally large scale, has been extradited from the United States to the Republic of Moldova. The International Police Cooperation Directorate of the General Police Inspectorate carried out the extradition based on a final deportation order and with the support of the competent US authorities.

According to the police, the Republic of Moldova authorities were seeking the man in connection with a criminal case involving large-scale fraud.
"Following criminal investigations, the man was placed on the international wanted list for the purpose of arrest and extradition," the police stated.
The Rîșcani Police Inspectorate of the Chișinău Police Directorate is handling the criminal case. Moldovan authorities took the necessary steps to identify and bring the man back to the country after locating him in the United States.
"His extradition from the United States was carried out based on a final deportation order, with the support and involvement of the competent US authorities," the police statement noted.
Other agencies also contributed to the operation, including the General Inspectorate of the Border Police and the Extraterritorial Criminal Investigations Unit of the US Embassy in Chișinău.
The police noted that the extradition was carried out through cooperation between the authorities of both states to bring the wanted individual before law enforcement agencies in the Republic of Moldova.
