INFOGRAPHIC | Moldova's airspace violated eight times last week; 56 incidents this year

Incidents involving violations of the Republic of Moldova's airspace continue to rise. In the last week alone, eight unauthorized overflights were recorded, five of which resulted in explosions on the ground in several localities across the country. According to the Ministry of Defense, the incidents occurred against the backdrop of the Russian Federation's attacks on Ukraine.

Five explosions on the same day

All five incidents, which resulted in ground-level explosions and fires, occurred on a single day: October 3.

The incidents were reported in the town of Căușeni and in the localities of Constantinovca (Căușeni district), Crocmaz (Ștefan Vodă district), Puhăceni (Anenii Noi district), and Dubovca (Hâncești district).

Three other unauthorised overflights were recorded on October 3 and 7 in the Palanca area (Ștefan Vodă district) and in the locality of Pervomaisc (on the left bank of the Nistru).

The National Army's Air Operations Service has recorded 56 airspace violations since the beginning of the current year, bringing the total to 93 since 2022.

The Ministry of Defence reiterates its appeal to the public: if you spot any drones, missiles, or fragments thereof, do not approach or touch them. Report any such incident immediately to the authorities by calling 112.

On October 5, a Border Police officer was injured by a projectile that landed near the Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing point following Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

The projectile ricocheted off the ground and struck a scheduled bus that was stationary near the barrier.

According to the authorities, the officer's life is not in danger.
