Mercedes driver George Russell posted the fastest time on Friday during the sole free practice session ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, the 17th round of the Formula 1 World Championship.

The British driver completed 28 laps around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, logging an afternoon-best benchmark time of 1 minute, 32.274 seconds to lead the timing sheets.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished second, while McLaren's Lando Norris set the third-quickest time in a closely contested opening running under the lights.

Ferrari and McLaren lock out front-running order

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top five in the second Ferrari machine, slotting directly behind McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.

The session proved critical for tire evaluation and aerodynamic setups, as teams adapted to Singapore’s demanding high-downforce street layout ahead of qualifying.
