New financing initiatives for the Republic of Moldova's growth, discussed with EBRD representatives
The current state of the projects financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and new aspects of cooperation were examined at the meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with the Executive Director of the EBRD for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, Matteo Patrone, and Angela Sax , head of the Bank's office in the Republic of Moldova.
According to a Government release, the interlocutors referred to the projects being implemented in the field of infrastructure, energy, transport and waste management. The officials also discussed the possibility of introducing new financing instruments for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and increasing the investment attractiveness of the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Dorin Recean mentioned that economic development, supporting small and medium enterprises, ensuring national security are the main priorities of the current Executive. In this context, the EBRD official reiterated the financial institution's support for the necessary transformations in the modernization process of our country.
The authorities' priorities in dialogue with the EBRD remain: energy security, promoting a sustainable economy, developing a competitive and inclusive private sector, a more resilient financial infrastructure and improved governance to support connectivity and trade.
Currently, our country has signed with the financial institution 58 projects in the financial-banking sector, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, with over 500 million euros invested in the Republic of Moldova last year.
