Chisinau hosts "Moldagrotech", "Farmer" and "Golden Autumn" exhibitions at "Moldexpo"

Over 400 agricultural sector participants will showcase their products and equipment at the "Moldexpo" International Exhibition Center from October 15 to 18. The autumn edition of the "Moldagrotech" and "Farmer" exhibitions—held concurrently with the "Golden Autumn" fair—will present more than 1,000 pieces of agricultural machinery and state-of-the-art technologies to farmers.
According to the organizers, the heightened interest in this year's edition is reflected in the fact that all exhibition spaces within the two indoor pavilions have already been booked; the exhibition will also extend outdoors, covering a total area of over 10,000 square meters.
"For us, these figures signify more than just a larger exhibition. They demonstrate an interest in development, investment, and technologies capable of transforming agricultural practices in the Republic of Moldova," stated Zinaida Popa, Interim Director General of the "Moldexpo" Center, during a press conference on October 12.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore agricultural machinery and equipment, drones, smart technologies, and modern farm solutions.
The organizers will also set up a symbolic area dedicated to the evolution of agriculture, showcasing a vintage tractor alongside a state-of-the-art model to illustrate the transformations within the sector.
The program will feature unique highlights, including the "Great Cheese" (Marea Brânză) show—a drone-assisted demonstration of a traditional product.
The exhibition's opening event on October 15 will also focus on direct dialogue among farmers, authorities, and the business community.
"We envision an informal opening—less protocol and more dialogue among farmers, authorities, and the business sector. Agriculture requires concrete solutions, and these are found when people discuss issues and work together," Zinaida Popa said.
Access to technology: essential for farmers' competitiveness
The use of high-performance technologies is essential both for adapting agriculture to climate change and for maintaining the competitiveness of local producers in the marketplace, stated Vasile Șarban, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), at the same conference.
"Development is impossible unless we use the most advanced technologies available. Furthermore, we must not forget that producers in the Republic of Moldova are constantly competing with other producers. We can only level the playing field and successfully compete if we use the same technologies, techniques, and equipment," the State Secretary declared.
According to Vasile Șarban, modernising the sector entails reducing production costs, achieving higher-quality yields, using appropriate packaging, and identifying stable markets.
In this context, trade exhibitions offer producers the opportunity to compare equipment, analyze offers, and establish new partnerships.
"For us, as a ministry, this is crucial. That is precisely why we have a subsidy policy in place. It is not limited to the traditional subsidies granted in the past but extends to implementation projects—covering both irrigation systems and the purchase of agricultural machinery," the State Secretary noted. Among the support instruments mentioned by Vasile Șarban are the programs of the Agency for the Development and Modernization of Agriculture and those of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the "Moldova's Orchard" project, and the AGGRI project, implemented with the support of the World Bank.

Farmers, manufacturers, and distributors of agricultural machinery and phytosanitary products are expected to attend the event, which will feature special offers, discounts on displayed agricultural equipment, and prize raffles.
"Moldagrotech" boasts a tradition spanning over three decades, with its first edition held at "Moldexpo" in 1993. The 2025 autumn edition drew 69 companies and attracted about 18,000 visitors.
