EBRD offers the Republic of Moldova another 5.6 million euros for waste management

The Republic of Moldova will receive another 5.6 million euros for the expansion and modernization of the waste management system. The Government approved the signing of the Grant Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in the amount of 5.6 million euros, in order to implement the "Solid waste in the Republic of Moldova" project. The money is offered in addition to the Loan Agreement of 25 million euros, signed and ratified this January.

The project, implemented with the support of the EBRD, provides for the construction of solid waste management infrastructure, as well as the procurement of equipment and machinery for transport, sorting and recycling. Thus, the amounts of stored waste will be reduced and the degree of territorial coverage of solid waste management services will increase.

The first waste management warehouse with the necessary infrastructure will be built in the area that includes Ungheni, Nisporeni and Călăraşi districts.
