The European Parliament is carefully monitoring the situation in the Republic of Moldova and is aware of the attempts to destabilize the country and the threats to the security of the state - said in a briefing, on the eve of the 13th meeting of the Parliamentary Association Committee of the Republic Moldova – European Union, the co-president of this dialogue format, Siegfried Mureșan. For his part, the vice-president of the Chisinau Parliament, co-president of the Parliamentary Association Committee Republic of Moldova - European Union, Mihai Popșoi, stated that the Republic of Moldova will meet the nine conditionalities of the European Commission within the established terms in order to be able to launch negotiations for accession to the Union European, even if some political forces in Chisinau are sabotaging the necessary reforms.

The security risks of the Republic of Moldova are also those of the European Union. That is why, the European Union is strengthening security on its Eastern border, including in the Republic of Moldova, stressed MEP Siegfried Mureșan. "We are aware of the permanent attempts to destabilize and provoke things in the Republic of Moldova. The European Parliament is following these developments closely. We also know that the security risks for the Republic of Moldova and for the EU member states are common and the same. We also know that in order to live in safety and stability between the borders of the European Union, there must be stable and safe countries in our immediate vicinity, and that is why the security of the Republic of Moldova is in the fundamental interest of the European Union", said the MEP.

The Vice-President of the Chisinau Parliament, Mihai Popșoi, mentioned that, in addition to the Security crisis caused by the war started by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova also faces other challenges, including attempts to destabilize the situation by fugitive oligarchs.

"The challenges that the Republic of Moldova is currently facing, which are particularly important, the post-COVID adjustment, the war in Ukraine, the hybrid war that the Russian Federation is waging against us, the destabilization attempts of some fugitive oligarchs, who at the same time are trying to flee from justice and who are complicit in the Russian Federation's attacks on the Republic of Moldova. But the country's authorities and institutions are doing everything possible not only to maintain stability, but also to continue the ambitious program of reforms", said Mihai Popșoi.

On Thursday, after the 13th meeting of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Parliamentary Association Committee, several recommendations and a Joint Declaration will be adopted.
