“European Village” program: Two infrastructure projects completed in Bugeac village
Residents of the village of Bugeac, in the Gagauz Autonomous Region, now have access to quality drinking water, and the town hall building has undergone major renovations, following the implementation of two projects funded through the "European Village" National Program. To carry out these initiatives, the Government allocated over 3.25 million lei from the state budget—via the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL)—while the local public administration contributed approximately 500,000 lei.
One project focused on improving the community's access to drinking water. Titled "Ensuring access to quality drinking water for the citizens of Bugeac village", it was carried out as part of the first edition of the "European Village" Program.
According to the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL), the village now has two modern water-dispensing stations equipped with water filtration systems. One is located near the kindergarten, while the other is situated next to the middle school. Additionally, the areas surrounding these structures were landscaped. The entire community—including public institutions and local businesses—benefits from this new infrastructure.
The second project, part of the second edition of the "European Village" Program, involved a major renovation of the town hall building. The structure was built in 1985 and had not undergone any major repairs since then.
The investment included replacing the roof, thermally insulating the walls, restoring the paving, and landscaping the surrounding grounds. These interventions aimed to improve the conditions in which the public institution operates.
In addition to investments already made, the village of Bugeac will benefit from further projects funded by the state budget, totalling over 2.5 million lei. The funds will be used to develop the General Urban Plan and to repair a section of road that connects the kindergarten, the community center, and the town hall.
The road repair works will be carried out through the government program "Europe is Close."
The village of Bugeac has approximately 1,500 inhabitants, of whom over 230 are children.
