Minister of Defence: The risk of an imminent attack by the Russian Federation is very low, but the authorities are monitoring everything that happens
The risk of an imminent attack by the Russian Federation on the Republic of Moldova at the moment is very low, thanks to Ukraine's military success against Russia, Defence Minister Anatoly Nosatyi told Agerpres in an interview.
However, according to the minister, the situation remains tense, but the authorities in Chisinau are monitoring everything that happens in the region and are ready to intervene at any time.
"Indeed, the situation remains tense in relation to the war in the neighbouring country and its consequences. All the dangers are coming from there, including the attempts to destabilise the situation that have increased recently, orchestrated and led by the Russian Federation. The presence of Russian troops illegally stationed, the presence of a paramilitary contingent of Transnistria is a destabilising factor," said the Defence Minister.
In this context, the defence minister recently said in an interview with AFP that there is no imminent military danger against Moldova, but there are other types of dangers affecting the country's security, such as hybrid warfare. By generating "disinformation and tensions within our society", Russia was trying "to change the political order, destabilise and overthrow state power", the minister said at the time.
