Constantin Borosan: The Republic of Moldova has overcome the cold period due to the volumes of gas stored in Romania and Ukraine
The Republic of Moldova overcame the cold period of the year thanks to the volumes of natural gas previously purchased and stored in Romania and Ukraine, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, said on Radio Moldova.
According to him, the purchases were made at a high price, but the cost of the stored gas was then determined by international market developments. Constantin Borosan also said that currently the Republic of Moldova is going to purchase a new volume of natural gas.
"Today we also have stored gas to ensure that whatever happens, consumers are assured of energy. To be able to purchase, we must have free financial resources, which means that the gas purchased must be delivered, consumed and paid for. Then the financial resource is created which can be used to procure cheaper natural gas. Now scenarios are being developed in this regard and it is a priority on our agenda", said Constantin Borosan.
We remind you that at the end of December, the Republic of Moldova had about 250 million cubic meters of gas in reserves.
