North Korea launches two more short-range ballistic missiles
North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on Monday, according to the South Korean military, Agerpres.ro reports.
"Our armed forces have detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from the Junghwa area in North Hwanghae province towards the East Sea," the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
The Japanese Ministry of Defence also confirmed the launch. The two missiles flew on an erratic trajectory before falling outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, ministry officials were quoted as saying by Japanese media.
The launches came as Seoul and Washington conducted a joint amphibious landing exercise, just days after they concluded their largest joint military drills in five years on Thursday.
Last year, North Korea declared itself an "irreversible" nuclear power and leader Kim Jong Un recently called for an "exponential" increase in weapons production, including tactical nuclear weapons.
In early March, North Korea launched its first two short-range ballistic missiles off its eastern coast.
