General Director of APP: "The process of taking over the assets of Chisinau International Airport has started"
As of today, the Chisinau International Airport will no longer be managed by the company "Avia Invest", but will pass into state management. Thus, the process of taking over the assets of the Chisinau International Airport has started, Alexandru Musteață, general director of the Public Property Agency, told our radio station. At the same time, the Avia Invest company qualifies this action as a raider attack and will appeal the termination of the contract in court.
Chisinau International Airport will continue to operate normally, without operational interruptions, and in the coming days the representatives of the Public Property Agency will provide more details, said Alexandru Musteață, general director of the institution, to Radio Moldova.
The Avia Invest company describes this action as a raider attack and will appeal the termination of the concession contract for the Chisinau International Airport in court, Avia Invest spokesperson Rodica Rusu told Radio Moldova.
Chisinau International Airport became the property of Avia Invest in 2013, when it was controlled by Ilan Șor. The concession contract, established for a period of 49 years, obliges the company to make investments of more than 240 million euros.
For not honouring its contractual obligations, the Public Property Agency announced the termination of the concession agreement in 2020. Avia Invest continued to manage Chisinau International Airport, and appealed the decision to the Court of Appeal. Last November the court ruled that Chisinau International Airport should return to state ownership.
