Maia Sandu: "It is good to have an Anti-Corruption Court at the international level to deal with major corruption cases"
Cases of grand corruption should be documented by an Anti-Corruption Court at the international level, in situations where justice reform proceeds slowly and encounters blockages. The statement was made by the President Maia Sandu on a program from Vocea Basarabiei. The head of state mentioned that there is currently an initiative to create this court, submitted by several international judges.
"For situations where reforms move slowly, the processes are not always the right ones, it takes time to build a strong and independent court or prosecutor's office. I think that in cases of big corruption it is good to have an Anti-Corruption Court at the international level where we can go with evidence and see the big corrupt people punished. There is a movement to create this court and I support this movement”.
We remind you that Maia Sandu previously requested the Parliament to prepare the legal framework for the creation of the Anticorruption Court, an institution that would investigate cases of grand corruption and corruption in the judicial system. The court would be operational within three months at most.
