For the first time, the Republic of Moldova has purchased natural gas from the Romanian Commodity Exchange. Energocom's clarifications
For the first time, SA Energocom has purchased 24 MWh of natural gas for the next day, 1 MWh per hour, from the Romanian Commodity Exchange. The price of one MWh cost almost 49 euros, says a statement issued by Energocom.
According to the quoted source, this purchase was carried out to test a new mechanism of natural gas procurement and to establish a new logistic chain. The source notes that the gas is to be resold to Moldovagaz SA, and the price does not include the cost of transportation.
The acting director of the company, Victor Bânzari, says the aim of the action was to diversify the sources of natural gas supply in search of affordable sources and to ensure the country's energy security.
The company's press release also states that Energocom is currently looking for partners in different countries to make new gas purchases and take advantage of the favourable price situation.
