Zelenski: There will come a day when the world will hear that justice for Ukraine has been restored. It will be a new Nuremberg for the Nazis
President Volodimir Zelensky devoted his message delivered on Friday evening to the event Ukraine marked earlier in the day - one year since the liberation of Bucea, which had become a symbol of Russian atrocities - and promised again on this occasion that justice will be done and that "there will be a new Nuremberg for the Nazis", an allusion to the trial of Russian leaders, reports news.ro.
"The main word today is justice. Justice - for our state, for all our people who lost their relatives, their loved ones, lost their health, their homes, their normal life because of Russian aggression, because of the terror of the occupier," the Ukrainian leader said.
He noted that special events had been organised on Friday in Bucea to mark one year since the liberation of the city, and in Kiev - a summit, talks with European leaders and the second "United for Justice" conference - "to accelerate and energise international work for the tribunal to try Russian aggression, for new warrants from the International Criminal Court to arrest Russian war criminals, for legal and fair sentences that all Russian criminals and torturers must receive".
Zelenski expressed "one hundred percent" confidence that all these steps will materialise and promised to make sure that Kiev will find the necessary formats and instruments.
He thanked the four leaders who came to Kiev on Friday and went to Bucea, including Moldovan President Maia Sandu, for their participation. "I am grateful to the leaders of Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia and Moldova who visited Ukraine today and personally supported Bucea, honouring the memory of all those who died in the city during the Russian occupation," President Zelenski said.
"Ukrainians will survive this war. We will liberate our land and all our people from Russian captivity. And a day will come when the world will hear that justice for Ukraine has been restored. It will be a new Nuremberg for the Nazis," Zelensky concluded.
