Pope Francis has left the hospital in Rome where he was treated for bronchitis
Pope Francis, 86, on Saturday left the hospital in Rome where he had been admitted on Wednesday because of respiratory problems, according to AFP reporters, Agerpres reports.
"I'm still alive," the pontiff joked to the many faithful and journalists gathered outside Rome's Gemelli hospital.
Pope Francis got out of his small white Fiat to greet them and exchange a few words before leaving for the Vatican.
The pontiff, who is suffering from a number of ailments, had been admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties. Pope Francis was diagnosed with bronchitis and responded well to treatment with antibiotics, the Vatican press office said Thursday.
