The citizens of the Republic of Moldova will have access to quality, safe and cost-effective medicines, according to a draft law approved at the Parliament session. The project provides for a new mechanism for the correct formation of prices and the application of a ceiling of about 15 percent for the annual price increase, says the Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco.

According to her, more medicines will be available in the country, so that citizens will not have to buy them from abroad. "In order not to allow the very direct connection of the price with inflation and the economic situation in the country, we have the limit of 15% to preserve the financial security of the patient and access to medicines. We, for the first time, introduced the negotiation mechanism, when negotiating the price of compensated drugs, and we have very good results that will record savings", said Ala Nimerenco. Ala Nemerenco said that this year there was a 3.5 percent increase in drug prices.
