In this context, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, conveyed that, since its establishment, NATO has proven to be the strongest political-military alliance in history, with a determining role in ensuring the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the member states and in defense of the rules-based international order.

The President of Romania believes that Russia's aggression against Ukraine highlighted the Alliance's unwavering solidarity and transatlantic unity of action in supporting Ukraine's legitimate self-defense efforts.

At the same time, the leader from Cotroceni assured that his country will remain involved in allied missions and commitments, and strengthening the national defense capacity will continue to be a priority for Romania, including by allocating, starting this year, 2.5% of GDP for Defense.
