Will electricity become cheaper? Victor Parlicov's answer
The new electricity tariffs will be known to citizens in the coming weeks, said Energy Minister Victor Parlicov on Radio Moldova's "360 degrees". The minister refused to say how much electricity will be cheaper, but said that the National Agency for Energy Regulation is already working on this chapter and will announce what it will do in the near future.
"Basically I don't want to give a figure. Yes, of course we have some estimates, but our estimates are estimates. The agency (n.ed. ANRE) has all the levers and knows all the nuances related to tariffs. Moreover, we have already urged the Agency to communicate on this chapter, communication has started (...). I believe that in the very near future the Agency will communicate what it intends to do, especially since there is also a decision that in emergency situations they have the possibility to revise these tariffs in an accelerated procedure. So we don't have to wait 180 days, as it is written in the law. I believe that in the coming weeks, consumers will already know what ANRE is planning to do", said Victor Parlicov.
At the end of last week, S.A. Energocom signed a new contract for the purchase of electricity from the Cuciurgan power plant for a period of six months. The price per MWh is $66, $7 less than in the last four months. Subsequently, the National Energy Regulatory Agency wrote that it would consider adjusting the electricity tariff.
