Ana Revenco: EU civilian advisory mission to Moldova will have an external assistance management unit
The civilian advisory mission under the aegis of the European Union's Common Foreign and Security Policy, which will come to Chisinau in May, will provide expertise in cyber security, propaganda and disinformation, crisis management, public order, Interior Minister Ana Revenco told Radio Moldova today. The government representative also stressed that the mission will have a foreign assistance management unit.
Ana Revenco added that representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the authorities of the security, defence and public order system of the Republic of Moldova will benefit from this expertise.
"The teams and specialists who will be part of the work of the structures subordinated to the Ministry of Interior will be further outlined. The mission will also have an external assistance management unit, so that the expertise and recommendations that will be formulated will then be supported in the implementation process appropriately and with the financial support of member countries. The composition will be determined by the areas and subdomains that will be specified after a mission that will specify the exact tasks or activities to be", said Ana Revenco.
Earlier, the EUobserver, wrote that the European Union plans to launch a new government support mission in the Republic of Moldova in May to counter Russia's "destabilising activities".
This week the head of the EU delegation in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, told Radio Moldova that such a mission exists in other countries of the world, but is currently working with the authorities in Chisinau on its status. According to political analyst Ion Tăbîrță, the European mission could help our country strengthen its energy, defence and cyber sectors, as well as its economy. Ion Tăbîrță added that the Republic of Moldova is still under hybrid attacks from the Russian Federation and the Kremlin authorities want to influence certain political processes in the Republic of Moldova.
On 22 February, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu discussed in Brussels the possibility of deploying a civilian advisory mission to Moldova under the aegis of the European Union's Common Foreign and Security Policy.
