According to a press release from the PCCOCS, starting from October 2022, the criminals were taking over the Ukrainian men from the border in the segment of the Transnistrian region, as a result of their prior recruitment by other accomplices from Ukraine. Later, they would transport them to Chisinau and put them up at the hotel, for the organization of their departure to the European Union.
The leader of the three was detained on the night of April 4 when he was transporting two Ukrainian citizens who crossed the state border illegally. The other two police officers are to be summoned and questioned as suspects. Regarding the leader of the group, PCCOCS prosecutors are to determine the necessity of applying the arrest.
In order to prove this activity of organizing illegal migration by the investigated criminal group, the law enforcement officers conducted seven searches at the home addresses, offices and cars of the three employees with execution functions in the inspectorate.
