Vadim Ceban: Moldovagaz will request the revision of the gas tariff by Easter
In the coming weeks, the gas tariff could be reduced. The statement was made by the president of the Board of Directors of Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, in a show on N4. He said that in the next period the calculations will be sent to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).
"I think that in a week, before Easter, we will present our calculations to ANRE and, together with the regulator, if these conditions are met, we will be the first to request the correction of the tariff. Because already a good part of the financial deviations, which were included in the tariff in October 2022, were recovered in the winter period with higher consumption. I believe that these premises will be, it depends on ANRE when this will be", said Vadim Ceban.
Also, the director of Moldovagaz refused to say how much the tariff could be reduced.
*"I can't tell you details, but at the right time we will come out with these figures. I can only say one thing: during the approval of the tariffs, in October 2022, about 6.5 lei were those financial deviations that were accumulated in 2022. As a figure that I can say at the moment", said Ceban, noting that it is premature to make calculations.
For example, Ceban mentioned that, with the cooling of the weather in Europe, gas prices increased by 6-7%, and on some days even by 25%. "That's why I'm not saying the figure, but I'm telling you that deviations of about 6.5 lei are introduced in the current price of 30 lei. But that does not automatically mean that there will be a reduction with this figure, because the volumes have decreased, there are distribution, transport and exchange rate costs and I don't know how they will be calculated by ANRE", concluded Ceban.
The head of Moldovagaz said that in March, 176 million cubic meters were purchased from Gazprom, at a price of 1050 dollars per thousand cubic meters. This amount was directed to the production of electricity on the left bank. At the same time, Energocom procured about 100 million cubic meters of gas for the right bank, at the price of 1011 US dollars per thousand cubic meters.
In April, much smaller quantities will be procured compared to March, the price for Russian gas being 673 US dollars, and that procured by Energocom - around 653 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
