The Venice Commission will present its opinion regarding the verification of the constitutionality of the actions of the "Shor" Party
The notification regarding the verification of the constitutionality of the actions of the "Sor" Political Party was also sent to the Venice Commission for an opinion, says the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco. He declared in a show on TVR Moldova that currently there is enough evidence that would demonstrate the continuous violation of the legislation by the representatives of this political party.
"The Shor Party is a recidivist in terms of continuous violation of the legislation, especially the legislation regarding the violation of the financing of political parties. This is ascertained by the decision of the electoral bodies, on the one hand, and confirmed by the decision of the courts. Since his first campaign in 2016, he has been periodically excluded from electoral races due to illegal financing, plus we must not forget the undermining of democratic principles in the context in which both the leader of this party and the party itself were included in the US sanctions list", said Sergiu Litvinenko. We remind you that in November, the Ministry of Justice submitted a notification to the Constitutional Court requesting the outlawing of the Shor party. According to the Ministry, through all the activities so far, the formation has acted in contradiction with the principles of the rule of law and threatens the security of the Republic of Moldova. Previously, this intention was qualified by the leader of the party, Ilan Shor, as a serious abuse by the current government.
