Maia Sandu's message for Catholic Christians: "Happy Easter with your loved ones, with peace in your soul and with love towards those around you"
Today, Roman Catholic believers, protestants and parishioners of the Armenian Apostolic Church from all over the world, as well as from our country, celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord. On this occasion, the president of the country, Maia Sandu, sent a congratulatory message.
"To all those who celebrate Resurrection Sunday, I wish them a happy Easter with their loved ones, with peace of mind and love for those around them, with lots of health, strength and hope for the future. Bright holidays!", reads Maia Sandu's message. The Easter holiday began on Saturday evening, when Christians come to the Easter Vigil. At the "Divine Providence" Cathedral in Chisinau, Easter Vespers will be celebrated starting at 8:00 p.m.
In some years, like this one, Catholics and Orthodox celebrate Easter on different Sundays, as the churches follow different calendars. There are around 20 thousand Catholic Christians in the Republic of Moldova. Orthodox Christians will celebrate Easter in a week, on April 16.
Today they celebrate Palm Sunday, which opens the most important week for Easter preparations. From a liturgical point of view, Passion Week begins on this day.
