Two cars were burnt to the ground on Easter night. The flames are believed to have been caused by left burning candles

Two vehicles were engulfed in flames on Easter Night and a man ended up in hospital after suffering burns, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations reports. According to initial reports, the fires were caused by a candle and a candle left burning.

The first case occurred in the locality of Ciorăscu in the Criuleni district. The call to 112 was received at 01:48. According to information a Toyota car caught fire after the driver, a 27-year-old man, fell asleep in the car with a lit candle. As a result of the fire, the car was totally destroyed and the man suffered second-degree burns to his upper limbs and was subsequently taken to hospital by the medical assistance service where he received treatment and refused hospitalisation. According to the IGSU, a fire and rescue crew responded to the scene.

Another case of a burning car occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Vlaicu Pârcălab Street in the capital. Here a Skoda car caught fire after a lit candle was left in the car. A fire brigade intervened at the scene to extinguish the fire, and managed to locate the fire without it spreading. As a result of the fire, 70% of the vehicle was destroyed. There were no casualties. The circumstances of both cases are still being established.
