The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is organising a press conference today, 19 April, on the subject of "The sentencing of Ilan Șor to 15 years in prison".
13 April 2023, Ilan Șor was found guilty of swindling and money laundering committed in particularly large proportions by an organized criminal group and sentenced to 15 years in a closed prison, with deprivation of holding office in the banking system for 5 years.
In a reaction on social media, the fugitive oligarch, who is in Israel, said the decision was illegal and that "the magistrates who took it will be behind bars very soon".
Subsequently, the Superior Council of Magistrates (CSM) approved a statement calling Ilan Șor's statements against the judges who sentenced him to 15 years in prison "unacceptable threats in a state governed by the rule of law".
