Starship, the largest rocket in history, exploded after launch

SpaceX successfully launched Starship, the world's largest rocket, but the test was not a success as both stages of the rocket exploded three minutes after launch and fell to Earth. The most powerful rocket ever built has no crew, reports Digi24.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk commented on today's launch, and said another attempt will be made "in a few months". "Congratulations to the SpaceX team on the Starship test launch! We learned a lot for the next launch, which will take place in a few months," he said.

Engineers, who consider the launch a success, say they will analyze the data collected to prepare for the next test. SpaceX specialists are satisfied that the launch went smoothly and the launch pad was not destroyed. They also received "tons" of clear data, which is a good thing, according to the BBC. The company already has another rocket ready, but that will be improved based on the data collected today.

Starship is 119 metres tall and weighs 5,000 tonnes. It's a spacecraft designed to be fully reusable, and can carry more than 100 tonnes of goods. About three minutes after liftoff, the launcher undocks. Starship has been developed by Elon Musk's company over several years for space missions beyond Earth orbit to the moon and Mars.
