They were detained after more than 20 raids were carried out this morning, according to the National Anticorruption Center (CNA).

The suspects are believed to have regularly solicited and accepted various illicit payments from transporters operating in the northern part of the country in exchange for so-called "protection." This protection was evidenced by superficial checks on drivers or by failing to impose appropriate sanctions for acknowledged violations.

The actions of the inspectors were documented by the CNA as part of an ongoing criminal case of passive bribery, to which 14 additional cases were later connected.

During searches at the suspects' homes, financial assets in various currencies were discovered, with their origin yet to be determined. Additionally, draft documents containing personal details of transporters and information sources were found.

Investigations into this case are still ongoing.
