Igor Grosu: The Republic of Moldova is at the end of the 9 conditionalities formulated by the European Commission

The Republic of Moldova is at the end of the process of fulfilling the nine conditionalities formulated by the European Commission for the start of accession negotiations with the European Union, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said today.

However, according to him, a consolidated effort is needed on the part of de-oligarchisation, which refers to the amendment of legislation in several areas to prevent undue influence of people promoting their private interests.

"I think we are already more or less at the end. On our part that concerns Parliament, I think we have to work on the dimension of de-oligarchisation, interventions in several laws to stop this phenomenon. I think we need to be clearer here. Ukraine and Georgia have drafted a law, a law has been passed which is generically called the law against oligarchs. One approach we see is to strengthen institutions by area. Not to allow the concentration in the hands of potentially oligarchs of capacities. Banking system, this is the approach that we are applying and it seems to have been accepted by the European Commission," said Igor Grosu.

Among the nine recommendations made by the European Commission is de-oligarchisation. The implementation of justice reforms and the fight against corruption are also priorities.
