European Political Community Summit could have engaged Moldova in major projects, views
The European Political Community Summit, which will take place on June 1 in Bulboaca, could have engaged the Republic of Moldova in far-reaching projects, but these should have been launched much earlier, according to representatives of extra-parliamentary political parties who took part in a debate organised by IPN Agency.
According to them, our country's domestic issues will not be on the agenda. On the other hand, the representative of the ruling party said that the topics to be discussed directly concern our country, especially in the current security context.
This Summit is an expression of the European Union's support for Moldova's European course, as well as a confidence in our country, said the Vice President of the European Social Democratic Party, Eremei Priseajniuc.
"It is a very strong signal for our country and it is a very good example of unity and solidarity that the great European leaders are showing us. When we are united around a single idea, not only the governing parties, this national idea is not the monopoly of one party, we are all citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We must be aware that regardless of the political class, the social actor, we are all part of this equation, an equation called our common future", said Eremei Priseajniuc.
Igor Klipii, Secretary General of the Coalition for Unity and Welfare, said that the place of Moldova in this project launched by France should be analysed. According to him, the creation of the European Political Community would represent France's foreign policy visions.
"This communication platform is the demarcation of France's foreign policy, especially Mr Macron's, which is not always well seen within the EU. There are claims that this platform does not coagulate foreign and security policy. This meeting was not created for the Republic of Moldova, it was created as a communication platform reflecting France's foreign policy," Igor Klipii stressed.
Action and Solidarity Party MP Alina Dandara underlined that the Summit agenda includes topics of discussion that directly concern the Republic of Moldova, such as energy security or hybrid warfare.
"We will be debating issues related to energy security not only for the Republic of Moldova, but also at European level. Of course, there are security concerns, given that in the Republic of Moldova we are in a hybrid war, in this context we have also heard good news from the EU, which has openly said that it wants to help the Republic of Moldova and provides technical and financial support in the fight against this hybrid war. I believe that the Sumit will be the right time to make a clear commitment to the European path of the Republic of Moldova", concluded Alina Dandara.
The European Political Community was proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron in May 2022, in his role as President of the Council of the European Union. The first Summit took place in Prague on 6 October, when it was announced that the next meeting of the European Political Community will be hosted by the Republic of Moldova. The next two Summits will take place in Spain and the United Kingdom.
