The European Parliament will debate today, December 13, Austria's refusal to vote in favor of Romania's accession to the Schengen Area, announced MEP Siegfried Mureșan.

According to him, the proposal for the debate came from the three largest political groups in the European Parliament. We remind you that on December 8, the European Commissioner for European Affairs announced in Brussels that Romania and Bulgaria have not yet been admitted to the Schengen Area. The Commissioner for Home Affairs congratulated Croatia for joining and said that Bulgaria and Romania also deserved to join the Schengen area, but they failed to get the unanimous support needed to join the free movement area. The Schengen area includes 26 countries: 22 from the European Union and four from outside it.
