The European Village was inaugurated in Chisinau to mark Europe Day
In Chisinau, in the Great National Assembly Square, the European Village was inaugurated in the context of the Europe Day celebrations. During the event, entitled "Stronger together", presentations of European Union projects in our country and interactive activities for visitors of all ages are held. Guests say they came to the event to get acquainted with European values and traditions and to watch the show with the participation of Zdob and Zdub, Etho Republic and other artists. On Saturday 13 May, they will also watch the live broadcast of the Eurovision grand final from Liverpool, keeping their fingers crossed for our country's representative, Pasha Parfeni.
Within the European Village, the organisers have prepared several educational and creative activities for visitors, especially for children. A Fair of Civil Society Organisations and state institutions was also inaugurated here. There were competitions on the history, values and projects of the European Union, and the event was attended by ambassadors, MPs, ministers and other officials.
Government spokesman Daniel Voda told Radio Moldova that the event aimed to familiarise citizens with European values.
"Today at the European town, we are presenting the European Moldova tent, a joint tent of the Government and Parliament. Our message is one, for the benefit of citizens, we present the programs and activities we are carrying out. More than 30 national institutions in the next hours will present will socialize with people", said Daniel Voda.
People present in the European Village told Radio Moldova that they are fascinated by the atmosphere in the centre of the capital. According to them, the event is part of the actions to promote the European vector of our country.
"I visited the embassies' exhibitions, I want to see what proposals there are for young people."
"We came to find out about NGOs, as well as what activities are on the market."
"It's a very nice atmosphere, I agree with the European trends but it's important to have stability as well ", say the visitors.
Artistic activities in the European Village will run until midnight. At 19:00, visitors are invited to the Europe Day concert "Stronger Together". From 22:00, they can watch together the Eurovision 2023 Grand Final in Liverpool, where Pasha Parfeni, our country's representative in the music competition, is taking part. Radio Moldova and Moldova 1 TV will broadcast live this prestigious musical event.
