Energoatom: Russian bombing of an external power line caused power outage at Zaporizhia power plant
Ukraine's state power company Energoatom said on Monday that the power outage at the Zaporijia nuclear power plant was caused by a Russian bombing of an external power line, Reuters reports.
Ukraine's Dniprovska power line - which supplies electricity to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant - currently controlled by Russia - was disconnected after a Russian bombing overnight, Energoatom said on its Telegram messaging app.
At least eight people were wounded and dozens of buildings were damaged in an overnight Russian attack on Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian authorities said today, adding that air defense systems destroyed 20 drones and four cruise missiles.
In May, in the context of the upcoming Ukrainian counteroffensive, Russia stepped up its missile and drone strikes after a break of almost two months. The attack was carried out with 16 different types of missiles and 20 Shahed attack drones, the Ukrainian air force said.
