The problems facing the Republic of Moldova and its European vector, discussed by the presidents of Romania and Germany
The problems facing the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine and the European vector of our country were discussed today in Bucharest during the meeting between the leader from Cotroceni, Klaus Iohannis, and the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Both Romania and Germany are firmly determined to support the accession of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU bloc, emphasized Klaus Iohannis.
"During our dialogue, we highlighted the multidimensional support given to Ukraine by the two states, and we also discussed the major difficulties currently facing the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the war. We share similar visions regarding the need to mobilize active and strong support for Chisinau, including at the level of the European Union, in order to strengthen the resilience of this country in the face of the complex challenges it faces," said the President of Romania.
The president also brought up the European Union's enlargement policy.
"During the discussions, we emphasized Romania's firm support for the advancement of the European path of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as candidate states for accession," Klaus Iohannis said.
In the speech delivered together with his Romanian counterpart, the federal president also referred to the organization of the second edition of the European Political Community Summit and noted that it is a good sign that the European family will soon meet in Chisinau.
We remind that the president of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, started today a three-day state visit to Romania, at the invitation of his Romanian counterpart, Klaus Iohannis.
