According to the document, the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly highly appreciates the decision of the European Council to grant the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate country for EU membership and strongly believes in starting negotiations on the accession of our country to the EU by the end of this year. "The accession process of the Republic of Moldova should proceed dynamically, based on meritocracy, without creating artificial obstacles, while respecting the conditions directly deriving from the EU Treaties. In this regard, we strongly believe that, following a positive recommendation of the European Commission, the decision of the European Council in December 2023 to open EU accession negotiations as soon as possible will ensure the irreversibility of Moldova's European path and will give a long-term systemic impetus to reforms", reads the Declaration approved by the Moldovan and Polish parliamentarians.

The document condemns Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine and the hybrid war against Moldova. "Our meeting took place in the context of the ongoing unprovoked Russian military aggression against Ukraine, which has created a provocative security situation for Moldova, making it both an indirect victim of this aggression and a sure target of the Russian hybrid war aimed at derailing Moldova's European integration process ", the Declaration says.

The 9th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland took place on Monday in Warsaw. The meeting addressed a number of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, in particular international and regional security, EU enlargement, Polish assistance for the transformation and modernisation of Moldova stimulated by Polish direct investment in the Moldovan economy.
