Deputy Marshal of the Polish Seimas: We care very much to maintain friendly relations and to enjoy the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU

Poland is ready to offer political support to the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process. It will be granted both bilaterally and through European mechanisms and instruments. The commitment is contained in the Joint Declaration of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Moldova, signed in Warsaw by the co-presidents of the Assembly, Mihai Popșoi and Ryszard Terlecki.

The process of accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union should proceed dynamically, based on meritocracy, without artificial obstacles being created, respecting, at the same time, the conditions derived directly from the EU treaties, reads the Statement. In this context, the deputy-chairman of the Parliament from Chisinau, Mihai Popșoi, mentioned that the Republic of Moldova counts on the support of Poland.

"By virtue of the partnership we have we continue to count on the support of the Republic of Poland for the integration process so important to turn the page and to stop looking back to our complicated past and to focus together on a common future in the European family", declared Mihai Popșoi.

For his part, the deputy marshal of the Polish Seimas, Ryszard Terlecki, mentioned that a possible decision of the European Council, in December this year, to open EU accession negotiations will ensure the irreversibility of the European course of the Republic of Moldova.

"We in Poland, and I think you in the Republic of Moldova, care very much to maintain friendly relations and to maintain this experience of assistance, perhaps to boost it so that we can enjoy together the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union", said Ryszard Terlecki.

The 9th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland took place on Monday in Warsaw. During the meeting, a series of topics on the bilateral and multilateral agenda were addressed, in particular, international and regional security, EU enlargement, Polish assistance for the transformation and modernization of the Republic of Moldova stimulated by Polish direct investments in the Moldovan economy.
