Political analyst on the EPC Summit: "It is a signal to the Russian Federation that Moldova is not alone"

The real results of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Moldova will be felt in the weeks, months and even years to come, according to Romanian political analyst Mihai Isac. He told Radio Moldova's "Paralela 47" programme that in addition to the support packages announced by the European structures, other grants from Romania, Germany, Spain, Italy and other countries that, according to him, have understood our country's needs will certainly be announced.

"The fact that it was a successful test, there were no major security incidents, is a signal to the Russian Federation that Moldova is not alone. It is very likely that this meeting will also send a signal to Moldova's strategic partners outside Europe, and here we are referring to Japan. Japan is one of the largest providers of grants to Moldova. Such an exercise showed the capacity of Moldovan diplomacy to rise to another level. Such events have not taken place for a long time, neither in Romania nor in other countries in the region", explained Mihai Isac.

On the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Lyen announced a new assistance package estimated at €1.6 billion which will focus on five initiatives - reducing roaming tariffs with the EU, investments in interconnection of electricity networks between Moldova and Romania, in the energy sector, modernisation of railways. The fifth initiative involves increasing the number of EU delegation members in Chisinau to facilitate the process of integrating our country into the European Union.

At the Summit, Norway also announced that it is allocating €50 million to our country.
