The visit to Brussels of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, this week, both to NATO Headquarters and to the European institutions, will strengthen cooperation in the areas of security and defence, said for Radio Moldova the Ambassador of our country to the Kingdom of Belgium, head of the Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the North Atlantic Alliance, Viorel Ciubotaru.
"Through these partnerships, through these relationships over the past year have developed stormingly with the North Atlantic Alliance, but also with the European Union. I emphasize this because as a result, including a rapprochement with NATO and the European Union, so a balanced approach especially with partners like the Republic of Moldova is extremely beneficial. On the one hand, we are talking about the efforts that are now concentrated in the programme to strengthen the defence capabilities of the Republic of Moldova, which is managed by the North Atlantic Alliance, and on the other hand, we are talking about the European Union's Peace Facility Programme, which offers the same tools for strengthening the defence of the Republic of Moldova", said Viorel Ciubotaru.
Please note that the visit of the Head of Moldova's diplomacy to Brussels, Nicu Popescu, took place before the updated information for the European Commission's Enlargement Policy Report was submitted by 21 June.
