Viorel Cibotaru: The Republic of Moldova could join the North Atlantic Alliance Enhanced Programme

The Republic of Moldova could join the North Atlantic Alliance Enhanced Programme. Once our country joins this programme, it will benefit from NATO intelligence, strengthen security, economy and attract investments. The statement was made by Moldova's Ambassador to Belgium, Viorel Cibotaru. According to him, this topic will be on the agenda of the NATO Summit in Vilnius on 11-12 July.

"We have actually reached by now the level of countries that are institutionalized in this instrument of enhanced partnership. At the NATO summit, it is not excluded that Japan will join this club of partners with a more advanced status. So, including in our discussions I would not say that there is an official proposal because it depends more on the desire of the Republic of Moldova, if the Republic of Moldova wants to be part of this select club of partners, NATO will examine, I hope, with the greatest openness as it does today", said Viorel Cibotaru.

We would like to point out that at present, 6 countries such as Sweden, Finland, Ukraine, Georgia, Australia and Jordan are part of the Enhanced Partnership.

On 11-12 July, the NATO Summit will take place in Vilnius. The Republic of Moldova will participate in this event. One of the most important topics of the summit is the strengthening of security not only at the level of the alliance, but at the global level.
