Maia Sandu hands over the State Flag to the Olympic Team, which will represent the Republic of Moldova at the European Games in Poland
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, today handed over the State Flag to the Olympic Team, which will represent the Republic of Moldova at the European Games in Poland. Also today, awards were given to athletes Serghei Tarnovschi and Oleg Tarnovschi who demonstrated performance at last year's World Championships.
*"Moldova has people who bring us fame in the world and who ensure that the country's flag is raised triumphantly at the most important championships. Behind the athletes' moments of glory are thousands of hours of hard training and the people who support them: family members, coaches, teachers, doctors, masseuses. Through their efforts, these athletes inspire children and young people, who want to follow them", said the President.
The head of state noted that at the European Games in Krakow-Małopolska there will be a fierce competition between 7000 well-trained athletes and she wished perseverance and success to the 85 Moldovan athletes.
"Dear athletes, we are grateful to you for the sense of pride that overwhelms us when the national anthem is sung at sports competitions. You don't just collect victories in your record, but contribute to the creation of a stronger state and to paving our way in the family of European countries", concluded President Maia Sandu.
