The Republic of Moldova will borrow 120 million euros and a grant worth 5 million euros from the French Development Agency

The Republic of Moldova will contract a loan in the amount of 120 million euros and a grant in the amount of 5 million euros from the French Agency for Development for the implementation of reforms in the energy sector. The initiation of Moldovan-French negotiations on the Memorandum was approved today in the Government meeting.

It foresees several measures to improve energy efficiency, including at the level of public buildings, said the Minister of Finance, Veronica Sirețeanu.

"The memorandum of understanding provides for the consent of the Republic of Moldova in order to implement development policies in the field of energy infrastructure, consumer protection, environment and climate change, boosting the energetic, ecological transition in the Republic of Moldova by promoting security. The Republic of Moldova is to carry out 34 policy actions, including the approval of amendments to the law on energy efficiency, approval of the long-term strategy regarding the renovation of buildings, including the reform in the residential buildings sector", stated Veronica Sirețeanu.

Veronica Sirețeanu emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of our country and the French Development Agency is to be signed this week.
