In less than two years, the EU has allocated more than €1 billion to Moldova

The European Union is committed to further strengthening Moldova's resilience, including energy security, enhancing security and defence cooperation and supporting reforms. From October 2021, the EU has made financial resources worth €1.2 billion available to our country. These have been directed to support investments in the economic sector and strengthen energy security.

Most of the resources, over €400 million, have been allocated through the Economic Investment Plan and around €300 million in the form of micro-financial assistance. Another €240 million was budget support for energy and energy efficiency measures, and €15 million - for support to vulnerable groups. The European Union is currently providing €295 million in macro-financial assistance to Moldova.

The financial package announced by European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen last November includes €105 million in budget support for 2023. At the same time, the EU aims to allocate up to €1.6bn in public and private investment.

The EU institutions are also supporting our country in strengthening cyber security and the fight against disinformation, as well as providing €8m for Ukrainian refugees. At the same time, some €90 million is foreseen through the European Peace Facility, which allows for better protection of civilians in crisis and emergency situations.

At the same time, the European Union has provided EUR 30 million for border management and aid for Ukrainian citizens arriving in the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of May, the EU launched a civilian mission in our country to strengthen the resilience of the security sector and to deal with cyber attacks.
