Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Bulgaria on Thursday, in his first visit to this country, Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov announced. Zelenski was invited to EU and NATO member Bulgaria by the country's new pro-Western government.

Zelensky arrived in Sofia after 12:00. He traveled from the capital of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau, on the Airbus plane of the Bulgarian government, reports the Bulgarian radio station BNR.
According to the program announced by Sofia, he will also have talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, and will meet with the leaders of the parliamentary groups that submitted a draft statement in support of Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Zelenski announced Thursday that he was in the Bulgarian capital for talks with the country's president and prime minister on topics including security and next week's NATO summit. "Support for defense, Euro-Atlantic integration (of Ukraine), NATO summit, security guarantees and implementation of the peace formula (to end Russia's war against Ukraine)," Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
The ruling coalition, made up of rival political blocs, began its mandate on June 6 after several years of gridlock and repeated parliamentary elections.
The new government proposed the additional delivery of aid to Ukraine compared to the previous executive, writes dpa, taken over by Agerpres.
Denokov said in an interview the other day that the time has come to end the years-long pattern of Bulgarian law enforcement and security services turning a blind eye when it comes to seriously investigating cases in which it is possible that Moscow is the one pulling the strings, declared the new prime minister of Bulgaria.
