Today, Volodymyr Zelensky was in Bulgaria to discuss a possible accession of Ukraine to NATO.

"I want to thank Bulgaria for the support and protection of the lives of our people," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during his first visit to Sofia.

He met with Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, with President Rumen Radev, with the leaders of the parliamentary groups that adopted a statement in support of Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Volodymyr Zelensky signed a joint statement on Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration. The statement reaffirms Bulgaria's firm political support for this country in its fight against Russian aggression to defend its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as on its path to NATO membership when conditions permit.

In turn, the energy ministers of the two countries signed a memorandum on energy cooperation. The Bulgarian parliament tasked the energy minister to negotiate with his Ukrainian counterpart the sale of equipment for the Belene nuclear power plant.

As Zelenski arrived at the Council of Ministers, the press service of the Bulgarian president announced that Rumen Radev had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán about the fight against human trafficking and partnership in the energy sector.
