The director of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) Alexandru Musteata will hold a briefing on the destruction of an agency network involved in actions of treason and espionage. The event will take place today, starting at 11.00, in the premises of the Intelligence and Security Service. Radio Moldova will broadcast the briefing live.
We remind you that, this February, the Information and Security Service (SIS) announced that it was investigating, jointly with the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), an agency network with the involvement of citizens of the Republic of Moldova and another state in actions of treason and espionage. Five citizens of our country were being investigated on the case.
Also in February 2023, several citizens of Serbia were not allowed to enter the Republic of Moldova through the Chisinau Airport and turned back. They introduced themselves as fans of the football team Partizan Belgrade, who were going to play a match in the Conference League against Sheriff Tiraspol. The suspects could not present the necessary documents, then, to justify the purpose of their trip.
In a post on the social page of the Partizan team, it was mentioned that 12 fans were blocked for several hours at the Chisinau International Airport, and later left the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
The border police stated that several foreign citizens were refused entry to the Republic of Moldova, on the grounds that they did not meet the conditions for authorization to cross the state border.
According to the criminal law, acts of treason are punishable by imprisonment from 12 to 20 years.
