Russian ambassador in Chisinau to be summoned to MFAEI in connection with espionage allegations in Moldova
The Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov, will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to explain the Russian Federation's espionage activities in the Republic of Moldova, as reported in an investigative report.
At the same time, the MFAEI announces that, in close coordination with other competent institutions, it is analysing the nature and extent of espionage actions of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova, including the activity of the persons mentioned in the investigation, in order to respond appropriately and promptly to the situation.
"We consider absolutely unacceptable any espionage actions and foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova, which are a direct challenge to the sovereignty and national security of our state."
Yesterday The Insider published an investigative piece from which it emerges that several agents of the Russian Federation's intelligence services are coming to the Republic of Moldova. They are mainly involved in phone tapping or cyber attacks on the websites of government institutions.
According to the investigation, they use satellite dishes on the roof of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
These groups have previously attacked the White House, the foreign ministries of the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Norway and the Netherlands, the defence ministries of Denmark, Italy, Germany, NATO headquarters, the OSCE, the IOC, WADA and others. They even managed to hack the mail of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
