Maia Sandu at the Salzburg 2023 Summit: "Moldova's accession to the EU will be an investment in democracy and our future"
President Maia Sandu participated in the Salzburg Summit in Austria, where she gave a speech about the geopolitical changes in Europe and our region. The head of state also spoke about how we can join our efforts to strengthen the European community and the important role that the Republic of Moldova plays in this regard.
"Today we are stronger than a year ago. This was possible because instead of giving in, we stood up - as a people, as a country. With the help of our friends and partners, we focused on strengthening our resilience, our democracy, on reforming and modernizing institutions and, most importantly, on our country's project - joining the European Union", declared the Head of State.
The president spoke about the fact that the Chisinau government is firmly committed to fulfilling its commitments to the EU and to its own citizens, such as reforming the justice system and cleaning up institutions of corruption. At the same time, the head of state mentioned that the Chisinau authorities are diversifying energy resources, restarting important infrastructure development projects, opening and liberalizing the country's economy in order to become a country as attractive as possible for domestic and foreign investors.
Moldova's accession to the EU will be an investment in democracy and the collective future in this space of peace called the European Union. By transforming ourselves as a country, we are transforming Europe.
