New support for Moldova: The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development is providing a $90 million grant
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide the Republic of Moldova with a grant of over $90 million. At the end of the week, the foreign policy and European integration committee approved the consultative opinion to open negotiations and approve the signing of an agreement involving this. The grant will be disbursed in a single instalment and will be used to co-finance the Moldova Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Competitiveness Programme, said Ion Gumene, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.

The financial assistance will be available until 30 September 2023, and the money will be used to finance the needs of the state budget to mitigate the negative effects of the war in Ukraine and to ensure the resilience and competitiveness of our country. Please note that at the end of May, the World Bank approved the financing of the Programme "Moldova, emergency measures, resilience and competitiveness. Development Policy Operation 2", in the amount of 92.1 million euros in the form of a loan, 25 million dollars as a non-reimbursable concessional amount and 9.3 million dollars as a grant.
