Corruption and money laundering: CNA raids Renaissance Party headquarters
The National Anti-Corruption Centre (CNA) is currently carrying out searches at the headquarters of the Renaissance Party. The information was confirmed to Radio Moldova by the institution's press officer, Ina Volosciuc.
"We are conducting criminal prosecution actions in a case of corruption and money laundering. At this stage we cannot provide more details. We will come back with details after the searches are completed," said Ina Volosciuc.
At the end of May, four MPs from the parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists - Vasile Bolea, Irina Lozovan, Alexandr Nesterovschi and Alexander Suhodolschi - left the party and announced that they were joining the Renaissance Party.
The "Renaissance" party was formed in 2012 by a group of MPs led by Vadim Mishin, who left the Party of Communists. After the leader's death, the leadership of the party was taken over by his son, Sergei Mishin, who was appointed in 2019 as advisor for interethnic relations to the then president, socialist Igor Dodon. In the 2020 presidential elections, "Renaissance" announced its support for Igor Dodon's candidacy. At the beginning of 2023, "Renaissance" became part of the civic initiative Movement for the People, together with the unconstitutionally declared Shor Party, which organises anti-government protests in Chisinau.
